Watch Terms

1. About these Terms

By creating an account, renting a title, or publishing content on ASG Watch, you agree to these Terms and to our Content Policy. We may update them; when we make a significant change we'll post the new version here with a new effective date and, where practical, email account holders. Continuing to use Watch after that means you accept the change.

2. Your Account

• You need an account to rent, publish, or sell. You must confirm your email address before you can sign in.
• You must be at least 13 to have an account, and at least 18 (or have a parent or guardian's consent where the law allows) to pay for a rental. You must be 18 or over to become a creator or organizer.
• Give us accurate details and keep them up to date. The email you sign in with is where we send receipts, and for creators and organizers, where we send payout notices.
• Your account is for you alone. Keep your password private; you're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.

3. Renting a Title

• Each title shows its price in Nigerian naira and how long the rental lasts. You pay once, through our payment processor, Korapay. There is no subscription and nothing renews.
• Your rental window starts when your payment is confirmed, not when you press play, and ends at the time shown in My rentals. You can watch as many times as you like within the window.
• A rental gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to stream the title for your own private, non-commercial viewing. It is not a purchase of the title and you don't get a copy to keep.
• Prices are set by the creator and can change, but a change never affects a rental you've already paid for.

4. Watching

You agree not to:

• download, record, screen-capture, copy, or redistribute any title, or help anyone else do so;
• share your account or a playback link so that people who haven't rented can watch;
• show a title in public or charge others to watch it (for example, a paid screening) without the creator's written permission;
• get around, disable, or interfere with playback protections, access controls, or rental windows.

Streaming quality depends on your device and internet connection. Some titles may not be available in every country. We may end a rental early and refund you if a title is removed under section 10.

5. Refunds

Rentals are generally non-refundable once the window has started, as with most streaming rentals. We will refund you if:

• the title wouldn't play because of a problem on our side and we couldn't fix it;
• you were charged more than once for the same rental;
• the title was removed during your rental window;
• the title was materially different from how it was described.

Email hello@africanstudentsgazette.com within 7 days of paying, with the email on your account and the title. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method; how long they take to arrive depends on your bank. When a rental is refunded, your access to it ends. None of this limits any rights you have under consumer protection law.

6. Becoming a Creator

• Anyone with a confirmed account can apply in the Creator Studio. Your profile and titles stay hidden until ASG staff approve you. We may approve or decline any application at our discretion.
• If you publish on behalf of a company, group, or other people, you confirm you have authority to accept these Terms for them.
• You're responsible for your profile, your titles, their descriptions, thumbnails and prices, and for any taxes that apply to what you earn.

7. Your Content & Rights

You keep ownership of everything you upload. To let us run Watch, you give ASG a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, for as long as your title is on Watch, to host, store, encode, stream, and display it to people who rent it, and to use its title, description, thumbnail, cover image and short excerpts (up to 60 seconds) to promote it and ASG Watch. The licence ends when you remove the title, except that people who have already rented it can finish their rental window, and copies may remain in backups for a limited time.

By uploading, you confirm that:

• you own the content or have every right, licence, and permission needed to distribute it this way, including for music, footage, images, and fonts in it;
• everyone identifiable in it has agreed to appear, and anyone under 18 appears with the consent of a parent or guardian;
• it follows our Content Policy and the law.

You're responsible for claims that arise because any of this isn't true, and you agree to cover ASG's reasonable costs if we face such a claim because of your content.

8. Pricing & Rental Windows

You set the price of each title and choose its rental window (24 hours, 48 hours, 3 days, 7 days, 30 days). Prices are in Nigerian naira. Changes apply to new rentals only. We may set minimum prices or limits and will tell you before we do.

9. Earnings & Withdrawals

• Revenue share. For every paid rental you earn 70% of the rental price. ASG keeps 30%, and pays the payment-processing fee out of its share.
• Your wallet. Your share appears in Earnings in the Creator Studio once the payment is confirmed. If a rental is refunded (section 5) or charged back, its 70% share is taken back off your balance.
• Withdrawals. You can withdraw your available balance to a Nigerian bank account in your name, from a minimum of ₦1,000. We may hold a withdrawal while we check for fraud, errors or a dispute, and will tell you if we do.
• Mistakes. If we pay you too much by mistake, we may deduct it from future earnings.
• We may change the revenue share with at least 30 days' notice. The change will not apply to rentals made before it takes effect.

10. Review, Reports & Takedowns

Anyone can report a title. We review reports and may remove, hide, or restrict a title, or pause payouts linked to it, if we reasonably believe it breaks these Terms, the Content Policy, or the law. Where we can, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond; you can ask us to review a decision by emailing hello@africanstudentsgazette.com. Earnings from rentals of content removed for serious breaches may be withheld and used to refund viewers.

11. Copyright Complaints

If you believe something on Watch infringes your copyright, email hello@africanstudentsgazette.com with: your contact details; the work you own; the link to the title on Watch; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement that your complaint is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner. We'll act promptly and may notify the creator, who can send a counter-notice. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.

12. Suspension & Closing Accounts

You can stop using Watch at any time; a creator can unpublish titles from the Creator Studio. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms or the law, puts others at risk, or exposes ASG to legal liability. If a creator account is closed, we'll pay out any legitimately earned balance, less refunds and amounts owed, unless the law or a fraud investigation prevents it.

13. General

Watch is provided “as is”. Our disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law sections in the Terms of Service apply to Watch. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
